What is humanism?

Put simply, humanism is a non-religious approach to leading a good life. It values reason and science alongside compassion and understanding.

I think an old tagline of Humanists UK sums it up perfectly - 'Think for yourself, act for everyone'.

What makes a wedding a humanist wedding?

A humanist wedding is defined by its celebration of people and the affect they have in the world. It's about taking time out of everyday life to stand back and marvel at all the truly good things life.

A humanist wedding is NOT about preaching or proselytising. I am a humanist, but that doesn't mean you have to be and it doesn't mean your guests need to be either.

A humanist wedding is about creating an environment where everyone feels included and valued, and ready to celebrate the wonderful couple in front of them.
